IBS: a mobile work order for technical call-outs

For IBS's technicians we built a first mobile work order, so recording a job doesn't depend on a network connection. The app combines logging the work, the customer's signature and a PDF, with features for preventive maintenance and a customer login. This first version brings the core of on-site work together in one mobile flow.

The story

What we built.En waarom zo.

01

The challenge

A technician has to be able to record a job where the work is done. There isn't always a network connection there. The work order has to stay usable and leave room to log the work carried out and have the customer sign.

The first version for IBS focuses on that core flow. The scope is the technicians' daily work, with the information needed for follow-up. That is also the starting point of software for installation companies: support the work on site first.

02

Our approach

We built a mobile work order app that works without a network too. The technician logs the work in the mobile app. The customer can sign, and the work order gets a PDF version, so the record is also available as a document. Preventive maintenance is part of the first version.

Alongside the mobile flow there is a customer login. It gives the customer their own access to the app, separate from the technician's work and the admin side.

Recording a job is the basis for follow-up. The same principle is central to a custom ticketing system: a question or assignment gets a recognisable place, with the information about the work attached. At IBS, the first version stays limited to the technician flow.

03

The result

The first version brings work logging, signature and PDF together in one mobile app. A missing network connection doesn't have to interrupt entering the work order. Preventive maintenance and the customer login are part of the same defined scope. On-site work now gets a fixed record that is also available as a document.

The first version focuses on the technician flow. Further development builds on feedback from technicians and the admin team.
